An initiative group of deputies of the State Duma of Russia has proposed establishing an annual payment to families to prepare children for school. TASS provides details.
"Getting a child ready for school is an extremely difficult task for parents, since they not only need to find everything they need, but also money for shopping. The cost of school uniforms, shoes, stationery, and school bags is quite high," TASS quoted one of the authors of the bill.
The parliamentarians’ initiative was also supported by the State Duma Committee on the Protection of the Family, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood.
It is noted that the payment will be provided only if the child has Russian citizenship. This annual support measure is provided to families with children from 6 to 18 years old.
The payment will be a one-time payment, and its amount will be equal to the national average subsistence minimum.
It is worth noting that this is not the only innovation in the social sphere that is currently being worked out in the State Duma. Earlier, it became known about a project to increase the minimum wage.
